#1 Today I’m going to give you a peek into the world I created. I hope the characters in the following blogs come to life for you. Because this is not fantasy or science fiction, no one has wings or transports through the galaxy (although that does sound fun)! These are real-life people who could be any one of us. It takes place in the beautiful Pacific northwest, where I grew up. Of course, ALL parts of the country are beautiful, but I know this area best. Our main character is Cliff, and his 11-year-old daughter, Jaime. Cliff is a widow of about three years and seems to be getting nowhere paying off his late wife’s medical bills. The driving force behind Cliff, what keeps his despair in check, is Jaime. She is energetic and smart, with an infectiously positive attitude. She keeps her dad going and, for the moment, is the strong one of the family. The first part of my story is about Cliff, Jaime, and a shocking event no one can imagine. It changes their lives! But it’s also about their relationship, how they cope with laughter and the strangers they encounter who become allies in Cliff’s fight to endure.
